UXM Installation Guide

Mod Engine guide here: http://ds3-cinders.wikidot.com/mod-engine-installation-guide

Steps to install Cinders starting from a fresh install:

  1. Install the game and make sure it has the last update (Regulation 1.35 APP Version 1.15).
  2. Run the game, accept the Terms of Service, and let it create a save file. Then change the in-game options so it starts offline at launch (can be found at System->Network->Launch Setting). Then exit the game.
  3. Download and extract UXM from Nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/26?tab=files.
  4. Run UXM and select the folder where DarkSoulsIII.exe is located (usually at Steam\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game).
  5. Click on Unpack (this will take a while depending on your PC), then click on Patch when it finishes. After that close UXM.
  6. Optional/recomended step: Make a backup of all the files in the game directory, this is necesary in case you want to revert to vanilla without re-installing the game again.
  7. Download and extract the latest version of Cinders (both 'Game' and 'Models') from Nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/310?tab=files.
  8. Copy all the folders and the Data0.bdt file inside the game folder, overwrite everything when prompted.
  • Running the game should now display the Cinders MOD version at the bottom of the main menu if the installation was done correctly.

Notes

  • Both 'Game' and 'Models' are required to install Cinders for the first time, but 'Models' doesn't need to be redownloaded everytime there is a new version.
  • To update the MOD, download and extract the latest version of 'Game' from Nexus, then copy and overwrite all the folders and Data0.bdt.
  • The 'Models' files only need to be re-downloaded when new equipment is added to the game or when a problem with it is fixed.
  • Make sure to follow steps 1 and 2 to avoid the "Failed to create save data" error. If even so the error persists, re-install the game (or restore the original files if you made a backup of them during the optional step), follow the same steps again until before unpacking, verify the integrity of the game files, and then continue with the rest of steps.
  • The modengine.ini file included in the 'Game' download is not necesary for UXM and can be ignored.
